About the Founder
Attorney Veronica Tunitsky received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Houston in 1999 and her J.D. Degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2002. While in law school, Ms. Tunitsky participated in the renowned University of Houston Immigration Clinic, an experience that served as not only an invaluable scholastic and practical opportunity, but also gave meaning to the immortal words etched on the façade of Lady Liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free ..." She has never forgotten the immense sense of fulfillment and gratitude she experienced after winning her first asylum case, and carries the spirit of it with her in every case that she undertakes.
Ms. Tunitsky was always destined to serve the immigration community, and it began more than two decades ago when she and her family set out on an arduous journey from religious and ethnic persecution they suffered in the former Soviet Union to the safe haven and freedom of the United States. At the time, the frightened 12-year-old girl who spoke virtually no English could never envision that she would have the opportunity to some day help others achieve the coveted American Dream.
In 2003, Ms. Tunitsky started her own immigration law practice successfully representing a culturally diverse and varied group of clients seeking immigrant and non-immigrant benefits, as well as relief from removal and deportation. In 2008, she joined Scott and Associates, Attorneys at Law, working closely with Laurel Scott. This invaluable experience afforded Ms. Tunitsky an opportunity to serve a particular subset of individuals - I-601 Waiver applicants - and solidified for her yet another passion within her immigration practice. She has continued her focus within this niche in her own practice, successfully helping families for many of whom the I-601 Waiver is the step of last resort.
Ms. Tunitsky has never forgotten her roots and maintains her devotion to community service, regularly volunteering her legal services for the Houston Volunteers Lawyers Association and Artemis Justice Center aimed at advocating for the prevention of domestic violence and human trafficking of victims of abuse and exploitation. Her community advocacy eclipsed a common and pervasive issue facing many immigrants today: lack of information. To help remedy this injustice, she served as a Joseph A. Vail Fellow at UHLC Immigration Clinic offering Know Your Rights presentations at several immigrant detention facilities and various community organizations. Ms. Tunitsky is active in a number of professional organizations including the American Immigration Lawyer's Association and the State Bar of Texas. She has served as guest lecturer at the University of Houston Immigration Clinic sharing her experience and knowledge of the I-601 waiver process with future litigators.
When not practicing law, Ms. Tunitsky is true to her first love - classical music and arts - and enjoys partaking in the many cultural events offered in Houston. She is a voracious reader and travel enthusiast. She lives in Houston with her family.
